The Gift of Gab

The GAB Sisters are three Newfoundland-born-&-raised siblings who understand the importance of both our dialect and our gift-giving. I discovered their products a few years ago and have been an absolute happy customer ever since. Their designs, though simple in nature, are so true to who we are as Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. They use the phrases from our unique dialect in an effort to create the most meaningful products. Many of these are derived from happenings in their own family, which I assure you every person in this province can relate to. For example, they have made a card that says, “Nan, Yer Da Best” because they noticed that greeting card companies always use the term Grandma. I cannot come to terms to buy those Hallmark cards for my grandmother. She’s not Grandma. She is, and always will be, Nan.

So many of their products make the absolute perfect gift, and this blog post is all about walking you through my favorites!

The Perfect Card

It is a true sin how many greeting cards are thrown away throughout a year of festivities. I for one attempt to keep most of them, but they are usually just piled in a box in my closet. The GAB Sisters cards, however, are something you will want to display all year long. Ranging from Pride to Christmas themes, they have a card perfectly suited for every occasion. The water color graphics are so beautiful that even the small cards can be framed for a simple decor piece. I also give this one out regularly as a thank you card:

Other favorites of mine include:

The best way to buy these cards is in a bundle. You can choose any 6 cards for $20.00 on their website, which is a steal of a deal for an amazing, local product!

The Perfect Gift

Most recently, the three talented sisters have partnered with other local companies to create a gift box of products perfect for birthdays, Mother’s Day, or even as a bridesmaid ask. I have loved every product in this box so much and can testify that there’s something in them for everyone. The one pictured below has a journal, earrings, seaweed face mask, bath salts and a hair tie. It was also all wrapped with their signature ribbon and ready to go. Pair it with one of their cards and….voila! Gift perfection for less than $50.

Some other great giftware items include hand-stamped coasters and beer koozies, both of which can be paired perfectly with a favorite beverage for a birthday or Groomsman ask.

My new favorite products of theirs are the larger prints on linen paper. They have these prints purposely themed for many rooms in the house and take custom requests as well.

Ideas for hanging include:

  • Porch – “Don’t Mind Your Boots”
  • Laundry – “Bless Your Cotton Socks”
  • Kitchen – “Some Shockin’ Good”
  • Bathroom – “Scrub Yourself Up”

Why not frame it and pair with a bottle of wine for an amazing housewarming present?

The Perfect Wrap

No gift is complete without wrapping. This company sells ribbon and adorable tags to add the perfect finishing touches. I cannot count how many bottles of wine I have given out over the last year with the Some Shockin Good tag. Tags can be bought in variety bundles of 8 for $5.00. There is a holiday option for these as well which you can find on their website.

Currently, their products are sold in Heritage shops as well as Posie Row. They also run an amazing website that makes for easy browsing as well as ordering. Their products are a MUST HAVE and are absolutely Some Shockin’ Good.
